Riot Games might have hinted at an upcoming Valorant console release in a new job posting.
Since its release in 2020, the tactical first-person shooter hero valorant has been widely acclaimed and has been steadily amassing a player base. The game has been nominated in multiple categories at The Game Awards, including Best Esports Game, Best Multiplayer, and Best Community Support. Additionally, Valorant has become active in esports with its Valorant Champions Tour competition series. organizing the first edition of Valorant Champions in Berlin in 2021.
Riot Games has pledged to expand its rapidly growing Valorant player base, stating that they are prepared to “expand the franchise” in light of the popularity of the game. On June 2, 2021, Riot Games announced their plan to develop a mobile version of Valorant, which is said to be the first step in expanding the game’s universe. The statement was made to mark the game’s first year, by which time it had attracted more than 14 million monthly active players since its release.
A job description posted by Riot Games a few hours ago on the hitmarker website reveals that the company is looking for a game design manager Y Senior Game Designer to help bring console gaming products to market for its Valorant title. Although this is not the first time that Riot Games has hinted at a possible Valorant console release, the company has yet to make an official statement on the matter. Hopefully, Riot Games will make an announcement about Valorant’s availability on consoles soon.
Given the lack of information regarding the launch of Valorant Mobile, it is likely that the console launch will take much longer. With the closed beta of Valorant granting players input via Twitch, the same can be expected for the console and mobile versions of the closed beta of Valorant, if confirmed.
