A recently discovered Windows 11 system requirements bypass trick also works on non-LTSC PCs

Published on

Earlier this month we covered an interesting trick to bypass the system requirements on Windows 11 PCs. This involves selecting the “IoT Enterprise LTSC” option when selecting the operating system during setup.

However, as it turns out, this bypass trick also seems to work for a non-LTSC (Long Term Servicing Channel), as discovered by that Twitter user (now X) and tech enthusiast Bob Poney. However, it seems to only work on the latest version of Windows 11, 24H2.

As many of you already know, Windows 11 system requirements have always been a bone of contention among enthusiasts and users alike, as Microsoft saw relatively new (at the time) processors such as Intel’s 7th generation (Kaby Lake) and AMD’s 1st generation Ryzen (1000 series ), as incompatible. These were quite capable processors and were easily able to run Windows 11.

However, those chips, and anything older, lacked certain security features that the Redmond giant felt were essential to run its latest operating system. From time to time, the company updates the list of processors with the release of new products. The last update was made in March of this year.

Apart from CPUs, TPM version 2.0 has also become mandatory. Again, Microsoft claimed that this was due to the strict security features brought by Windows 11. The recently announced AI PCs now include Secure Boot to improve this, although it is not a mandatory requirement.

Regardless, people continued to use workarounds to be able to install Windows 11 on unsupported hardware. Interestingly, Microsoft also made it official to bypass the registry, albeit with a fair amount of warning.

Back in October 2023, we reported a single command trick that allowed users to bypass the Windows 11 system requirements check during the installation process. While we only came across it in October, this trick has been doing the rounds since 2022.
