Last month, around the time Microsoft released the Patch Tuesday updates for Windows 11 and Windows 10 for June 2024, it also released updated images for installing Windows 11 with new Defender settings.

Meanwhile, Windows enthusiasts are always looking for ways to speed up computers or run them on older or slower hardware, and often the way to do that is to remove features like telemetry or crack background apps. Both official Microsoft apps like Edge are removed and important apps like Windows Security and Microsoft Defender are deleted to eliminate background processes as much as possible.

A new edition of Windows 11 from the Chinese government is now doing the rounds on the Internet and it does not have Edge or other Microsoft apps and store, but it also brings up the disadvantage of this edition because it does not have Defender which means that a system using it will not be safe.

It was unofficially activated using KMS38 by MASgrave. KMS38 is an offline activation method that works by tricking the GatherOSstate EXE file to extend the KMS (Key Management Service) activation period to 19 Jan 2038 03:14:07 UTC instead of 180 days. If you are wondering, the Super bug Y2K38 prevented from going further. For those wondering, GatherOSstate actually helps determine if an operating system in its current state is suitable for an upgrade.

The last officially available Windows China Government release was released back in 2017 for Windows 10.

You can certainly try it in a virtual machine, but it is not recommended on a real computer. Users who want an official recommended version of Windows are better off using the Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC released in April and the system requirements are also much more modest with no mandatory requirement for TPM 2.0 or secure boot, making it much more ideal for users who want to use it on their real systems.
