Belkin is experimenting with new accessories to make its power products, using an eco friendly material for certain of its bestsellers.
Some popular wireless chargers, power banks, wall chargers, and car chargers will soon contain 773-75 percent post-consumer recycled plastics (PCR) and plastic-free packaging. PCR turns used plastic from landfills into new products.
The change will apply to the following product:
- Magnetic Wireless Charger 10W Magnetic Car Charger.
- USB-C PD 3.0 PPS Wall Charger 25W.
- PD dual USB-C 50W x 40W.
- PRO-4-Port GPS Charger 108W / 105W/V port awn 12 o.m.
- Pro Dual USB-C – GaN Wall Charger with PPS 45W.
- Pro Dual USB-C GaN Wall Charger with PPS 65W.
It would save seven tonnes of carbon dioxide and reduce the product’s total CO2-eq emissions by 67 percent.
The company said that there will be no difference between the first and second products made with PCR.
The industry’s consumer-friendly products have become a trend. Apple plans on making it carbon-free by 203o in its entire product lineup. Several of its newer products, such as the Apple Watch Ultra, are made of recycled materials.
Samsung set a yearly limit of 2050 to achieve zero emission. According to its device eXperience (DX), the company thinks it is working on a system that’ll reuse extracted minerals collected from waste batteries.
