Blue Beetle is expected to beat Barbie during its opening weekend box office.

The new DC superhero movie stars Xolo Mariduena as Jaime Reyes, a recent college student who is becoming a superhero. The movie opens on August 18, 2023, and will now have a new take on Barbie at the box office. The movie’s fifth weekend with Margot Robbie, and was the highest on the domestic box office for four weekends in a row.

Blue Beetle is expected to earn $25 to 32 million over its opening weekend, which would overtake Barbies projected 17 to 20 million. Barbie’s box office has been a huge success, becoming the best domestic release of all time and most popular among Warner Bros. and recently passed The Dark Knight.

It stars Xolo Mariduena as Jaime Reyes with a supporting cast including Susan Sarandon, George Lopez, Adriana Barraza, Damian Alcazar, Raoul Max Trujillo and Becky G.

After Jaime Reyes graduated and returned to Palmera City, he was chosen to host the scarab, an ancient alien biotechnological relic which gives him an exoskeleton armor, turning him into a superhero, read the official synopsis.
