Tsujimoto offered his reasons for this view:

“Development costs now are about 100 times what they were in the Famicom era, but software prices haven’t gone up that much,” he explained. “There is also a need to raise wages to attract talent. Given that wages are rising throughout the industry, I think raising unit prices is a healthy business model,” concluded Tsujimoto.
