Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, said that the company may introduce a third installment of the famous Red Dead Redemption franchise.

Red Dead Redemption has sold nearly 80 million copies, making it one of the industry’s most successful games. Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the ten best-selling games of all time.

Red Dead Redemption 2 came out in 2018, and nearly 5 years later, there’s still a sequel. Although the CEO of Take-Two has already discussed the possibility of release of Red Dead Redemption 3.

Speaking at the global conference, Co-founder and CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed that the company is continuing to work on its core franchises for many years to come, as some of them have the potential to continue to grow for decades.

If this is a very good game, it’ll get sequel. There are only so few entertainment franchises in this category, but they’re there. I think the Red Dead is one of those.

This announcement suggests that Red Dead Redemption 3 becomes reality eventually.

To keep this record up, the CEO also noted that we should restrain each IP so that every new launch becomes a special event because of its rarity. He also made a comparison to the Bond movies, saying that what makes them special is that they don’t come out as often.

Rockstar Games is busy with the GTA 6, the allegedly accelerated tally for eight years. With the increase in scale and expectation, Red Dead Redemption 3 is likely to take even more time to develop.

While Red Dead Redemption 3 sounds exciting, Take-Two and Rockstar Games focus on GTA 6 for now.

Red Dead Redemption came a few weeks ago on the new consoles, and it’s a port for PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
