Fast & Furious 11: What We Know So Far

Published on

It’s hard to think that nearly 20 years have passed since The Fast and the Furious first sped into theaters, winning over the hearts of adrenaline enthusiasts everywhere. Since then, the franchise has boomed into a financial behemoth, earning over $7 billion and firmly establishing itself as one of the most lucrative film franchises of all time. Universal has confirmed that they will be making a sequel to the blockbuster film Fast X, which has already made over $600 million worldwide.

We don’t know when exactly Fast & Furious 11 will be released, but Vin Diesel announced at CinemaCon in Las Vegas that the sequel to the series’ last chapter would be in cinemas in 2025. A release date within that year has not yet been set, but given the series’ track record, it’s probably safe to anticipate that it will be in the summer. Even while it may feel like a long time, we’ll soon be on the edge of our seats again, much as during those fast-paced chase sequences in the movies.

Fast X, the most recent installment in the franchise, is still playing in cinemas throughout the world, and Fast & Furious 11 will certainly follow in its footsteps.

No teaser trailer for Fast & Furious 11 has been released yet, which is to be expected given that production has not yet begun on the film. Even if we can’t wait to see the upcoming installment, the current trailer for Fast X allows us to relive the thrills once again.

Fast X’s ending sets up the possibility that several fan-favorite characters may return for the series’s finale. Many people are waiting with bated breath until 2025 to find out who will ride shotgun with Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto. It has been confirmed that Jason Momoa will return as the villain Dante Reyes, and that Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Statham, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, and the fearsome Jason Momoa will also reprise their roles. Alan Ritchson, Brie Larson, and Daniela Melchior, all of whom are new to the franchise but whose characters Aimes, Tess, and Isabel are fan favorites, are also set to reprise their roles. Dwayne Johnson set aside his feud with Vin Diesel and returned to the Fast & Furious franchise in a shocking surprise at the end of Fast X. However, Johnson will reportedly star in his own movie as Luke Hobbs, which will serve as a bridge between Fast X and Fast & Furious 11.

We don’t have a definitive storyline summary for Fast & Furious 11, but we do know that it will follow up from the dramatic finish of Fast X. If you haven’t seen the climactic moments of the current film, you should. Twenty years’ worth of loose ends in the series’ narrative are ready to be resolved when Dom Toretto and his family return for one more adventure. There is still two years till the release, so we have plenty of time to learn more.

Following the series’ longtime director Justin Lin, Fast X was helmed by Louis Leterrier, and Leterrier will return to direct Fast & Furious 11 with a script by Christina Hodson and Oren Uziel. Since the movie isn’t coming out for another couple of years, there’s plenty of time for casting and crew announcements. Nonetheless, Fast X’s Mark Bomback and David Cain, as well as the film’s composer Brian Tyler and cinematographer Stephen F. Windon, are all anticipated to return.
