The mistrust surrounding the Nintendos mysterious next-gen console are continuing to get strong. Recently, it was claimed that the console may have been able to be at the center of behind-closed-doors events at Gamescom 2023, which took place in Köln between 23 and 27 august. In fact, a report published by Eurogamer contradicts these claims.

As per Eurogamer, Nintendo held in-game presentations at Gamescom, where it showed off mobile phone demos of Nintendo Switch successor to external developers.

One of the tech demos revealed a souped up version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – the idea of improving the hardware capabilities of the Switch 2. Eurogamers report states that this was just a tech demo, but that there’s no suggestion that the game will be re-released.

The reports claim that Nintendo was targeting an initial release sometime in the second half of 2024 for its next-gen console. According to Eurogamer, the company is keen, as long as possible, to target an earlier start than this window.

Recent leaks suggest a Nintendo Direct presentation is planned for next week. It’s still uncertain whether you can hear anything about the Switch successor.
