Get ready for more rounded corners in Windows 11 in some unexpected places

Published on

Windows 11 marked the end of the square user interface and brought back the rounded corners we loved so much in the days of Windows Vista and Windows 7. However, the company is not done streamlining its products and making them less sharp – Edge insiders have noticed that Microsoft is cutting edges (sorry) in a somewhat unexpected place within Edge Canary.

Microsoft Edge Canary window with rounded corners

as identified by @XenoPanther, Edge Canary now displays web pages on a rounded canvas. The entire web page area appears slightly raised above the rest of the user interface (tab strip, toolbar, and sidebar). Rounded corners affect even the scroll bars and videos in full screen mode.

Microsoft seems to have a bit of an obsession with rounding everything up within Edge and Windows. The company recently introduced a rounded address bar and tabs in the Edge browser, in addition to Windows 11 received another batch of search menu bar designed with the same design treatment. Not everyone is a fan of such changes, but they certainly make Edge and Windows look fresh. They’ll also look nice on computers with rounded display corners, like those found on the Surface Laptop Studio.

It’s worth noting that rounded web pages in Microsoft Edge are apparently an experiment the company is conducting with a limited group of Edge Insiders. Edge Canary on our machines has not yet received the unorthodox UI change, and your system may not have it yet either.
