Google has been working on bringing the powers of the Gemini AI assistant to its core apps. In March, Google added Gemini to Google Maps to let users start navigation using their voice. Google has also been testing AI features for the YouTube Music app for quite some time now.

Google Gemini can access information about various Google apps and services to provide you with better search results. Now, according to Android Authority contributor Assemble Debug, Google can bring the powers of Gemini AI to YouTube Music. New YouTube Music plugin for Gemini spotted in Google app v15.17.28.29.arm64.

The YouTube Music plugin for Gemini will let you search for your favorite songs, play on the radio, discover new artists, playlists, and more. When you activate the plugin, Gemini will fetch your YouTube Music account data, including your playlists, music you’ve liked, play history, preferences, etc., and offer you enhanced and relevant search results based on your YouTube Music data. You will be presented with a prompt, and only when you agree to it will Gemini use your YouTube Music information.

You can access the new YouTube Music plugin for Gemini on the Plugins page. When you search with the plugin enabled, you’ll get the results from YouTube Music. Besides, tapping on the search results will open YouTube Music. If the app isn’t installed on your phone, Gemini will play music through the web version of YouTube Music.

As pointed out by me Android Authority, the YouTube Music plugin for Gemini works a little differently compared to the Music Provider feature. The plugin only enhances Gemini’s search results for YouTube Music using the app’s information, while the ‘Provide Music’ feature lets you choose the default app for playing music on your phone.

Note that the feature was spotted in the latest version of the Google app, and the extension is not available on Gemini.
