Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot’s The Flash Cameos Reportedly Cut To Make Way for Gunn’s DC

Published on

While it’s already been announced that Henry Cavill will not return as Superman in the DC of the future under James Gunn and Peter Safran, it’s now reported that cameos of Cavill and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman have been cut from The Flash to make way for the studio’s new direction.

As the report states, this movement indicates that Gunn and Safran will not play with the pieces already in play in the DCEU, rather they will be making a significant shift when they steer this large ship into uncharted waters.

This shift already made waves in current projects like The Flash thanks to Cavill’s departure and the decision to not progress with Patty Jenkins’ most recent vision of Wonder Woman 3.

“The sunset of Cavills time as Superman was the clearest indication yet that Gunn and Safran are undergoing a substantial overhaul of DC, a reboot that will cut significant if not most, ties to the previous regimes that handled DC movies for Warner Bros,” wrote THR. “Cavill also shot a cameo in The Flash, one of the four DC films set to release in 2023, but sources say cameo is now being cut due to the fact that the studio chose not to continue with Patty Jenkins version of Wonder Woman”

Although Cavill made a comeo appearance in Black Adam and announced he was going to wear the iconic cape once again, sources say he didn’t have a deal to return to Superman and only a verbal agreement with the studio’s development of future projects.

Although Cavill’s time in the DC universe may not have been over for long, Gunn and Safran had a conversation with the actor and discussed a new role a lot and then a new role.

As for Superman, his role as a reporter remains the highest priority for Gunn and Safran, but his younger days are the more important. Gunn is going to write the script but is not in the director’s chair.
