Avatar: The Way of Water has won a spectacular opening to a $134 million domestic weekend victory paired with 435 million dollars globally.

According to Variety, Avatar: The Way of Water was the third-biggest worldwide opening weekend during the COVID-19 pandemic, and now sits only behind Doctor Strange in Multiverse of Madness’ 440 million and Spider-Man’s a thousand thousand dollars.

From the ground up, Avatar: The Way of Water was the biggest opening of 2022. Cameron’s films, including Avatar, tend to start a little slower and then to develop further in the following week.

The film was released in 2009 to 77 million dollars domestically – before continue to earn 760 million dollars in North America and 2.92 billion dollars globally, the highest-grossing movie of all time. The original won the top prize for six weeks in a row.

The sequel, which earned 301 million dollars globally, will have a difficult time reaching the heights of the original movie, however, considering it won’t play in Russia, where “the original movie grossed 16 million dollars.” China is hugely active and was an important player in the original’s success, but the sequel fell above expectations at the beginning of the first half and brought only $57.1 million in.

62% of all who bought tickets to Avatar: The Way of Water went to a premium movie IMAX. Globally, the film made 48,8 million dollars in IMAX alone. This was enough to make it IMAX’s second biggest weekend ever and the biggest for the start of the December movie.

Look at Avatar: The Way of Water in the coming weeks and see how much this product costs and exceeds its 350 million dollars production budget. According to Cameron, the film must be the third or 4th highest-grossing film of all time to make money.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever took second place after sitting in the box office for five weeks, after performing 5,4 million dollars domestically. Now it’s reached four-thirty-two million dollars in North America, three-67 million dollars international and seven-thirty-two million dollars global.

Violent Night came in third with five million dollars, and Strange World brought in 2.25 million dollars, and The Menu rounded out the top five with 1,7 million dollars.
