Metal Gear fans are different breeds. As he does, he uses the words solid Snake to get to his goal, that’s the story of hardcore fans. Even if the long repercussions have been resurfacing from the movie “Mole Gear” to the ‘Tactical Expansion” film were made by Xani and Hideo Kojima – sorry: Sadly, not all films are well known – fans still are willing to admit their own mistakes. Sure enough, fans believe the Metal Gear Solid producer can do something related to Solid Snake for next year.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was the final correct Metal Gear game made in collaboration with Hideo Kojima.
The most recent source of the rumors in Metal Gear is Noriaki Okamura, who worked with Kojima in several games, most particularly Metal Gear Acid 2 and Metal Gear Survive.
According to a note shared with Famitsu (via Gematsu) that the keyword of the company in next year’s year is “long-awaited” and that next year’s “year of many announcements.”
On one hand, Okamura could have been talking about a different project. Konami currently is working on a smorgasbord of Silent Hill games. Examples include Silent Hill F, a remake of Silent Hill 2, a new live-action Silent Hill movie, Silent Hill: Townfall, and Silent Hill: Ascension. Okamura isn’t exactly part of the project. If he’s talking about games that he isn’t part of when asked about Konami’s plans for next year, it’s highly unlikely that he’s speaking about it. Okamura has no previous experience working on any thing outside of Police, Zone of the Enders and Metal Gear.
Okamura was one of Kojima’s closest collaborators when the aforementioned video game drew a lot of fun from Konami. So, you can’t blame fans for thinking that he’s teasing a new Metal Gear project.
We’re pretty sure that Konami’s latest tease was about Silent Hill, but it wouldn’t hurt to expect.
Konami told the newspaper last year that it was working on several projects and later reports claimed that the Japanese company is revitalizing its iconic franchises. We know the Silent Hill part of that plan already. It’s not far-fetched for Konami to work on the Metal Gear series in-house but because many people like Okamura are still in the company. We’ve heard of rumors that Virtuous Games is working on a Metal Gear Solid 3 remake. It’s believed that Bluepoint Games is suggesting a Metal Gear Solid remake. Regardless, there are plenty of dots where metal gear really does exist.
All that’s missing now is for Konami to outright deny or confirm all of these rumors. Fingers crossed, this will happen next year.
