A lot of alleged details about the iPhone 16 series are flowing to the Internet. We recently reported that the standard iPhone 16 models could come with tinted glass backs, similar to the non-Pro iPhone 15 models. Now, according to the latest leak, the MagSafe charging magnets on the back of the upcoming iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models may be slightly thinner.

Templates for the production of alleged cases for the iPhone 16 series have appeared online, courtesy ShopSystem. These templates, besides showing the back design of the iPhone 16 models, which we have already seen in previous leaks, show one important detail: the MagSafe charging alignment ring may be reduced this year.

When the two iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro case templates are placed side by side in the photo, it is apparent that the magnets on the iPhone 16 Pro’s MagSafe charging ring are thinner than those found on the iPhone 15 Pro. Here’s a look at the side-by-side image:

If this report turns out to be true, manufacturers of MagSafe accessories will have to invest efforts from scratch to adapt their products to the new system. This change also indicates that Apple is minimizing the amount of magnetic material it uses in its iPhone 16 lineup.

Another thing to note, as pointed out by ShopSystem, is that although the thickness of the MagSafe charging connection rings has apparently been reduced, the older MagSafe will continue to work with newer models, because apart from the thickness, not much has changed. The position of the magnets remains unchanged.

The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models are also linked to previous leaks that these models will come with a vertical camera module. Apple is also rumored to be working on technology to help reduce lens flare when recording videos. There are also rumors that there will be a Dedicated shutter button for the camera in the iPhone 16 series.
