The responsible game director explained why Supermassive Games switched to the couch co-op mode.
The first revelation at Geoff Keighleys Opening Night Live 2023, was Little Nightmares 3. This time, however, the project isn’t handled by Tarsier Studios, but by Supermassive Games. Grâce à l’Enhanced Edition of the Second Half, the studio behind The Quarry knows the series well already.
Under this developers, an innovative is co-op, but it’s only available online. I hope that you won’t be allowed to play together when you’re at home. Why did British game developer decide against it? That’s what Wayne Garland explained, a responsible game director for the third branch.
We considered sleeping, but when you go back to the atmosphere and immersion was trying to create with Little Nightmares, it was important that we limit ourselves to oneself to the social aspects of the group (also called co-op) and not to the traditional party elements, explains Garland.
One of the more requested features is the most requested one.
The horror atmosphere and the immersion are the reason for the absence of an opiate variant. Regardless of case, according to Coralie Fenillo, the co-op option was among the most requested features. It’s important for the team to offer this feature. There’s also a single player mode so that the player can enjoy the game as a desire. In this case, the game AI takes over the second character.
In the new part you will play “Nieder-Alone” (Alone), two new characters. One fights with a bow and a arrow, the other with a wrench. Together they need to escape from a dark threat lurking in the shadow.
Little Nightmares will be released in 2024 for PS5, PS4, Xbox X/S, Xbox One and PC.
