Microsoft is giving Microsoft 365 Insider program members who also own iPhones and iPads a new feature to test out. They can use the Word iOS app to open and convert PDF files to Word documents.

B Microsoft 365 Insider blog postThe company explained the reason why this new feature is being introduced:

There are approximately 2.5 trillion PDF files in circulation across the web and mobile platforms. Despite being a preferred method of sharing information, managing them can be chaotic. You often need to switch between different applications to view, edit, sign, print, or modify PDF files, resulting in a fragmented user experience, increased expenses, and potential security vulnerabilities.

Insiders with an iOS device can start using this feature first by opening a PDF file with the iOS Files app. After that, they can tap on to share An icon available in the lower left corner of the iPhone or iPad display screen.

After that, users can tap open in the Word application. After that, they can choose the new one Convert to Docx An option at the bottom of the display to turn it into a Word document that they can edit in the app.

In addition to converting a PDF file to Word, you can use the Word iOS app to search for content in the PDF file by tapping to look for icon at the top of the screen. If you want to save the file to a cloud storage service, you can tap the three-dot menu icon (“…”) in the upper-right corner of the screen, then tap Save approxSelect and tap the desired cloud location, then finally tap to rescue choice.

Finally, the Word iOS app can let you share a PDF file with others by tapping the share icon at the top of the screen. You can then add the email address of the person you want to share the file with and then tap on to send to do this.

Microsoft 365 Insiders using version 2.86 (Build 24051517) and later can try the new PDF features in the Word iOS app. No word on when this feature will be generally available.
