Microsoft fixes updates that block Windows 11/10 with error 0x80245006

Microsoft has fixed a number of Windows bugs and issues in the past week in both Windows 11 and 10. First, we had the “Open with” dialog issue in the Windows 10 taskbar. On the Windows 10 issue, users of a multi-monitor setup would find icons jumping back and forth between the two monitors, which has now been resolved as well.

On the Windows 11 side, Microsoft also resumed rolling out a problematic Windows 11 update that led the company to pause the update. Meanwhile, others found that they were unable to download the June Patch Tuesday updates for Windows 11 and Windows 10 because it would lead to the “0x80245006” error.

The issue was raised by a user on the Windows 11 forum Drakan who wrote:

Hi, I recently did a Win 11 repair (reset) and now when I click search in Windows Update I get the error 0x80245006 and Win Update doesn’t search and find nothing… I google and do a lot of “solutions” but nothing works .

Another user NK Evinrude Posted about the issue in the Microsoft Learn forum and suspected that the Bitdefender VPN update might be related:

I can’t update windows. Error code: 0x80245006. I also use Bitdefender as well as Bitdefender VPN. Bitdefender VPN has just been updated.

I suspect the Bitdefender VPN update might be related, but I’m not sure what settings need to be changed, what those settings are specifically, and where they need to be changed.

However, this is unlikely to be the case as Microsoft has clarified that the Windows Update error 0x80245006 issue has been resolved. in the feedback center message Regarding the bug, Microsoft employee Jennifer G gave the following response:

This should be resolved now – as always, please feel free to submit new feedback if you continue to experience issues

So, if you also failed to update Windows and got error 0x80245006, you should probably try again now. If the issue persists, be sure to report the issue in the Feedback Hub.
