Microsoft is working on an ‘improved visual layout’ for Teams

Published on

Microsoft recently announced a preview of the Teams Premium add-on for its commercial customers. The company has more to offer in the coming months, and the best part is that you won’t have to pay a subscription fee for these capabilities. One of Teams’ upcoming features is an “enhanced alternate design.”

With the new design, Microsoft aims to achieve better app engagement and discovery. Microsoft says it will help you “quickly launch apps you already have as well as discover new apps to help you complete your everyday tasks in Teams.” The software giant, however, did not share how exactly the new alternate design will help users achieve all this.

The “enhanced flyout design” in Teams will arrive in February of next year for desktop users. Here’s what Microsoft says about it Roadmap page, but given his track record, you shouldn’t get your hopes up. Remember how dark mode for Word on the web was delayed? The new design in Teams may meet the same fate.

The new flyout of teams

On the bright side, however, Microsoft has a ton of Teams functionality set to release in the coming months. Some of the noteworthy features the company is working on include an AI-powered file sharing experience, Outlook and Teams integration, a welcome change to Teams meetings, and much more. Microsoft also added a slew of new features last month.
