On August 31st, Microsoft updated the Snipping and Notepad apps for Windows11 Insiders (Canary and Dev channels). Scissors has improved screenwriting and snapping. Notepad saves all of the sessions.

The latest version of the latest C&O tools was released on August 31, 2023.

Scissors (version 11.2307.44.0)

The Snippings update introduces a single-player-capacity display, which lets you switch between screenshot and screen recording without having to open the app. Put the key Print Screen or combination Win + Shift + Sto open the capture panel to create a snippet or try a new keyboard shortcut Win + Shift + Rto open the screen recording panel.

Screen-making has also been improved. It’s possible to add another CD and voice to your computer using a microphone. The new settings allow you to set the default recording option for new screen recordings. If you have multiple recording devices, you can select your preferred device before you start recording.

Notepad, Version 11.2307.22.0.

Notepad has learned to save the work session automatically, so you could close the application without additional dialog boxes, and when you return, continue to work, when you left off. Notepad automatically restores previously closed tabs, from where previously opened tabs, to unaved content, and edits them. This doesn’t change the session state, but you are careful of your decision, when you close the tab, if it’s time to save or discard those unaved changes. The application can’t be disabled if you want to work from scratch.

Microsoft is beginning to roll out these changes slowly, so they may not exist now in the Canary and Dev channels. It plans to analyze the reviews and recommend all users updated apps.
