Mojang adds extra render distance, a new social hub and more to Minecraft Realms Plus

Realms Plus server hosting subscription service that Mojang offers for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition The moment is added Three more benefits for the enjoyment of friends. The service already offers 11-player servers to enjoy with friends, cross-platform play and a monthly selection of Marketplace content. Now, a hub to track everyone’s adventures, rendering distance upgrade and other bonus items are here as well.

Dubbed Realm Stories, the main social hub feed offers a place for all players to share screenshots from the server, discuss activities, and even show off big events like mining diamonds, finding mine shafts, and defeating the Under Dragon for all to see. The Timeline tab then offers a quick look at when each player is typically online on a given day, making it easy to host larger game sessions with more friends.

The third and final tab of Kingdom Stories, Friends, is the fastest way to find who is currently online, their membership status on Minecraft server, and even sorting by the latest online players. However, iOS and Android players will have to wait a little longer to get this Kingdom Stories feature as it is still under development for the mobile platforms.

Mojang also allows owners of Realms Plus servers to get better render distances in their worlds. “All servers now have eight additional chunks for distance processing, which means you can detect danger, opportunity or an escape route from further away – 20 chunks to be exact,” reads today’s announcement. Keep in mind that even though the server provides the data, the apparent distance can still vary depending on the platform each player is using.

The last feature being added to Realms Plus is access to new character creator items. Like Marketplace items, these will drop monthly for membership holders, and once claimed, can be used forever. “Whether you want to suit up in that ice cream fort of yours, terrorize the inhabitants of a new survival spawn, or blend in with your surroundings – your wardrobe collection is about to grow,” Mojang adds.

Minecraft Realms Plus for Bedrock Edition Costs $7.99 per month for its server hosting services plus the new additions announced today. Mojang also offers a standard $3.99 per month Realms subscription that offers servers with three player slots, but lacks other benefits.
