New Mortal Kombat 1 Trailer Shows Jean-Claude Van Damme Doing Some Van Meese

Warner Bros. Games let go The official trailer for Mortal Kombat 1 With Jean-Claude Van Damme as a special skin for Johnny Cage. It marks a 30-year journey to bring the iconic action star to the classic fighting game franchise.

The trailer shows Van Damme playing Cage and utilizing his signature martial arts moves and one-liners. You can unlock Van Damme’s character skin at Mortal Kombat 1 Premium version.

Co-creator of the series Ed Boone found out The fascinating backstory in a recent interview. When developing the source mortal Kombat Set in the 1990s, Boone and his team wanted to create a Van Damme-centric fighting game featuring the action star at the height of his popularity. However, they could not get Van Damme’s approval at the time.

Over the next few decades, Boone repeatedly tried to sign Van Damme to continue mortal Kombat headlines but failed. Boone described it as “a whole moment thirty years in the making.”

We actually wanted to see the words ‘Van Dam’. Bloodsport was big, and so was Universal Soldier, I think. So we called his people, and we were like, ‘We want to do a match based on Van Dam,’ and I don’t know if he turned it down or just didn’t get around to it or something.

With his introduction as Johnny Cage, Van Damme joins the cast of mortal Kombat Characters like Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Raiden. Fans can finally pit Cage in Cole Van Dam against the other iconic fighters when Mortal Kombat 1 Launches.

Again, Jean-Claude Van Damme’s voice and skin for Johnny Cage is available at Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition for $109.99. It also lets you play the game a few days early on September 14th.

Earlier this week, NetherRealm Studios released a new trailer revealing that Megan Fox will be joining the roster as the playable warrior Nitara. Other voice actors slated to appear include JK Simmons, John Cena, and Anthony Starr as Omni-Man, Peacemaker, and Homelander, respectively.
