One UI test build for the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE hints at the device’s existence

Published on

Last month it was reported that Samsung is indeed working on a Fan Edition device, the Galaxy S24 FE, with the project name R12, which follows the naming scheme of previous FE phones: the S20 FE was R8, the S21 FE was R9, and the S23 FE was R11.

Soon after, the alleged Galaxy S24 FE was spotted in UK carrier EE’s database, with the model number SM-S7210U in the region, presumably for the carrier’s model. Now tipster Tarun Watts is on X (formerly Twitter) spotted the One UI test of the Galaxy S24 FE on Samsung’s OTA server, hinting that the device exists.

The rumored Galaxy S24 FE with model number SM-S721B appears on the OTA server, hinting that software for the next Fan Edition phone has already started. The tipster noted that the Galaxy S24 FE model number SM-S721B has allegedly been confirmed for the European region.

It should be noted that the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE will be the affordable model of the Galaxy S24 premium flagship series, which debuted this year. It is expected that the Galaxy S24 FE will be powered by Exynos 2400 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processors. The European version that is allegedly spotted on the OTA server may ship with an Exynos processor.

Samsung is rumored to launch the Galaxy S24 FE later this year. Apart from the Galaxy S24 FE, Samsung is also expected to launch the affordable Samsung Galaxy Watch FE. There have been rumors that Samsung could launch the Galaxy Z Fold FE, but plans may be scrapped due to uncertain market conditions.

There is a chance that Samsung will only launch the Galaxy Z Flip6 and the Galaxy Z Fold6 alongside the Galaxy Buds3 Pro during the Unpacked event scheduled for July 10 in Paris.
