OpenAI enters into strategic partnership with Financial Times to improve models

Published on

OpenAI has formed a strategic partnership with the respected business news outlet, the Financial Times. The two companies will work together to enhance ChatGPT with attributed content, the integration of FT journalism into ChatGPT, and the development of new AI products and features for FT readers.

For everyone who uses ChatGPT, this partnership means you’ll see curated curated summaries, quotes and rich links to FT articles whenever you ask relevant queries. Internally at FT, employees are now using ChatGPT Enterprise so they can benefit from the creativity and productivity gains made available by artificial intelligence.

Commenting on the partnership, FT Group CEO John Reading said:

“Besides the benefits to the FT, there are wider implications for the industry. It is, of course, true that AI platforms pay publishers for the use of their material. OpenAI understands the importance of transparency, attribution and compensation – all essential to us. However, it is clearly in the interest of the users that these products contain reliable sources”.

If you’ve ever used ChatGPT, you probably know that its knowledge expires on a certain date, and it can’t connect to the network to get new information like headers. With the FT integration, ChatGPT may be able to get the latest information and news through limited sources it collaborates with, rather than pulling some information from the Internet, as is the case with Google Gemini and Perplexity.

If it cooperates with different advertisers, it can ensure that the new information is reliable and that they get paid for their content, because ChatGPT could have denied them advertising revenue because their sites are not really visited.

On a side note, the ChatGPT release notes Just announced That memory is now available to all ChatGPT Plus users except in Europe and Korea, where the feature will be rolled out soon. With Memory, ChatGPT can remember things in chats.
