This years Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade brought new and familiar faces to our screens, and the same can be said for this year’s Pokemon float. Despite the continued criticism the new title has received, fans were excited to see their favorite franchise appear on the streets of New York.

This years Pokemon delivery featured a giant floating balloon that was carried by performers carrying Pokemon-Themed costumes. The Pokémon Company used the the same from last year’s event, where he had Pikachu and Eevee on a pokeball sled. This marks the second time the popular Normal-type Pokémon has appeared as the franchise’s mascot.

Fans managed to capture the iconic globe from different angles as they knew that the popular video game franchise would return to Manhattan once again. Meanwhile, back home, fans were excited to see their favorite Pokémon appear on the screen.

Eevee made her parade debut last year. According to The Pokemon Company Vice President of Marketing Colin Palmer saw Eevee as a “perfect ambassador” for the brand alongside Pikachu. The popularity of “Eevee-lutions” has made the normal-type creature a new fan favorite.

“Pikachu and Eevee are the perfect ambassadors to represent the fun and joy of Pokémon in this new balloon that debuts during the brand’s 25th anniversary. Pikachu remains a brand icon, and his annual appearance in Macy’s Parade has delighted fans and families alike for decades. Introducing Eevee, known for his unique evolution abilities, is the perfect Pokémon friend to join Pikachu and represent the brand as we look to the future and all the fun and adventures to come.”

Pokemon has appeared in the parade for 21 years. His first appearance was in 2001 when a giant floating Pikachu took to the skies. The balloon remained the same until 2006, when he received the first redesign of it: Pikachu accompanied by a pokéball. The globe received another makeover in 2014. This time, Pikachu held a Pikachu-shaped snowman throughout the parade.
