The camera for the GN1 uses the same 50MP sensor in its Pixel 6 and Pixel 7, so Google can take it to the next level for the Pixel 8 (Pro). This aging sensor could be replaced with a second-generation sensor that would improve the quality of the image.

The smartphone with the HDR mode takes three images with a different exposure level. On paper the result image should have better dynamic range and higher contrast compared to standard shots.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is equipped with a 50 MP ISOCELL GN2 sensor / NextPit.

Out of the hardware, Google could use its software optimizations to improve image quality. For reference, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra has a Samsung ISOCELL GN2 which convinced us by the tests with wide sharp and fast shots. However, I should wait a little more time so we can see what the effect is on a Pixel.
