The Pokemon TCG is an always changing and unpredictable market. Over the past two years, we have experienced a renewed interest in this hobby due to many factors, such as the 25th Anniversary, Strong Sword and Shield-era set featuring gorgeous Alternate Arts, influencers, box breakers, and a COVID-19 lockdown that pushes people to find hobbies and more. For a while, making the difficult finding of sets and cards that were readily available quickly became difficult. Now that the hype’s settled down, let’s see what modern sets stand. The Pokemon TCG will be on screen every month. This series isn’t financial advice, but rather a way to help collectors understand the current situation of cards so that the successful Pokemon TCG masters know when to strike. Today, let’s see how the Sword & Shield Darkness Ablaze, which has been going out in August 2020, is going to be doing now in August 2023.

  • I’m not really convinced that we are all three years old now that Pokemon TCG releases: Sword & Shield Darkness Ablaze.TheSword & Shield era went into hyper-drive in 2021, when Alternate Arts were added, but comparing this year to 2023’sScarlet & Violet? While Hype is very thin for cards, it shouldn’t be said how much strongerScarlet & Violet sets are in the variety. This lack of diversity is partly reason why the sets of the first year of the Galar era haven’t matured well in the secondary market. This month, the chase card of Charizard VMAX is more expensive than ever with $4.63, a 7 per cent drop from July.
