Hopoo Games and Gearbox Publishing announced that Risk of Rain Returns is an adaptation of the original game. It includes two brand-new survivors, weapons, artifacts and enemies, revamped multiplayer and improved visuals. However, one particular detail who flew under the radar before the announcement was that Gearbox Entertainment acquired the Risk of Rain, after buying it from Hopoo.

In the recent Steam post, the developer said that Gearbox has been trusted publisher of Risk of Rain 2, for many years now. They have a love for Risk of Rain that matches our own and is the best fit to enter the future. While Hopoo is working on Risk of Rain Returns, Gearbox is developing and publishing new titles.

There might be serious concerns among those who adore the movie. However, Hopoo revealed that Gearbox developed the Survivors of the Void expansion. It created the Aristocrat’s Sanctuary and Siphoned Forest, with the Aristocrat’s Vodol Jailers, all received very well.

As an end, the developer said we are ready to enter new challenges and to welcome the new and exciting ideas that Gearbox will bring to the risk of rain. The concept of Survivors of the Void remains an absolute priority for Gearbox. We cant wait to see what the future brings for the danger of rain with them at the helm. We know the IP’s in excellent hands.
