Samsung may finally bring the vertical scrolling app drawer with One UI 7

One of the main and functional things that distinguish Android from iOS is the app drawer. With the evolution of Android over the years, the app drawer has also seen a change, and different brands are implementing their app drawer on their phones. Samsung, for example, has stuck with the right-to-left swipe action for its app drawer, but it looks like Samsung may finally be changing it.

Most Android smartphone manufacturers use a vertically scrolling app drawer on their phones, with the exception of some, including Samsung. Samsung’s One UI software skin uses a right-to-left swipe for the app drawer, which feels a little dated.

Although a module at Samsung Good Lock app Called ‘Home Up’ previously offered the option to tweak the app drawer style and set it to a vertical scrolling layout, it has been removed from recent versions of the ‘Home Up’ module in the app. Users have long asked Samsung to switch to a vertical-style layout for the app drawer, and we may see the change in Android 15-based One UI 7.

A comment from a member of the Good Lock support team on Samsung’s official forum gives us some insight into why the vertical scrolling layout for the app drawer has been removed and also hints at when we can expect the feature to finally arrive.

the reaction (After Google Translate) it says, “Please note that Home Up’s vertical list function is now ready to support the next OS version.” It could be one of two things. First, Samsung will return the vertical scrolling app drawer layout to the Good Lock module, and second, the friend may have accidentally revealed Samsung’s intention to support the vertical app drawer natively in One UI 7 based on Android 15. However, keep in mind that the second part is speculation.

If the latter is the case, then we’ll have to wait for the One UI 7 Android 15 update to enter the beta phase, which is still a few months away. Let us know what kind of Android app drawer layout you prefer in the comments below.
