Samsung is developing an augmented reality headset, which can be customized by Google and Qualcomm. In August, the design of this system was publicly released online, which included the visualisation of RGB tracking cameras, and a depth sensor. Currently the new rumor suggests that the device will let users smell virtual environments and objects. Now go look at Samsungs new augmented reality feature with a nose.

Samsung: a new augmented reality system comes with a nose!

According to a tweet from the trusted leakster and X user, @Tech_Reve, the Samsung XR headphones will have a pixel density of 3000 ppi. Like Apple’s Vision Pro headphones, they support hand-watching. This XR system will hone the smell to make everything even more real.

It’s unclear whether the device can detect scents from the real environment or whether it can produce artificial scents using advanced synthesis technology. If the latter were the case, it would be a significant step forward, since no major consumer electronics company could add functional scent replication to a VR or AR headset.

The headset will run on a Qualcomm XR processor, contrary to previous rumors that the exynos 2200 chip would power it. It also uses an operating system developed by Google.

It was said that the new system will also be revealed on Samsungs LSI Tech Day. This event will take place on October five in San Jose where the company will discuss the future technology, such as AI or 5G.

Samsungs XR is very interesting. It seems like Apples Vision Pro inspired many of you. They’re thinking of adding support for touch and even smell. The related technology will be unveiled at LSI Day. The display specs are impressive with over 3000ppi of pictures.

To be honest, Samsung is a majority in reality. The company released several Gear VR models from 2015 to 2017. For this, there was a mobile phone. The new system is now believed to be a true standalone, but not limited to just Galaxy models.

Microsoft is among the largest companies that invest in the AR market, like Samsung and Apple. By 2021, it won a 10-year contract to supply this equipment to the military.
