Samsung’s One UI 6.1.1 introduces a larger watermark for AI-generated wallpapers and images

Samsung took the wraps off the Galaxy Z Flip6 and Galaxy Z Fold6 at the Unpacked event yesterday. Both devices have been gently upgraded and come with Android 14 based One UI 6.1.1 update out of the box.

AI-generated wallpapers are pretty common these days, where all you have to do is enter a text message and describe what kind of wallpaper you want the AI to generate. In response, the AI will use machine learning and its powers to create images.

Samsung introduced the ability to create AI wallpapers with the launch of Galaxy AI earlier this year with the debut of the Galaxy S24 series. However, with the latest One UI 6.1.1 update, Samsung has added a much larger watermark to let users know that the wallpaper or image was created by AI.

Galaxy AI brings a collection of features for supported Samsung smartphones. One of the features, called “Creative wallpapers,” is powered by Google’s AI models. It should be noted that this is the same feature that was introduced on the Google Pixel 8 last year.

Previously, when creating an AI wallpaper using the Galaxy AI “Generative Wallpaper” feature, Samsung would apply a small watermark using the Galaxy AI logo in the bottom left corner. It was gentle and less annoying.

However, the One UI 6.1.1 brings big changes, and Samsung has enlarged the icon and also added the text “AI generated content” in the bottom corner. As pointed out by me 9To5GoogleThe new AI-generated large content logo appears on both the internal and external display of the Galaxy Z Fold6 and apparently also applies to the Galaxy Z Flip6.

The text at the bottom is large and may look a bit annoying, especially if you use dark colored wallpapers as the text pops out. Although the reason behind this logo update is unknown, it could have been done for AI image creation tools that have become more powerful and advanced.

The new Galaxy AI watermark is optional and is applied to images or wallpapers created using the Galaxy AI tool. Also, there is no way to go back to the old watermark style.
