Star Trek: The Original Series prequel series Strange New Worlds will return for a second season on June 15, 2023. Co-showrunners Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers have promised that Season 2 will be “bigger and better” than Season 1 and will feature additional genre exploration. The actor who plays Captain Christopher Pike, Anson Mount, has stated that Season 2 will feature “bigger swings” and a wider variety of genres than Season 1. As Pike and his crew set out on new missions, fans of the Star Trek franchise can rest assured that they’ll run into some familiar faces. Central to the plot will be what happens to Number One once she is incarcerated for hiding her genetic alterations. Pike’s character development will be affected by his meeting with his past self. Actor Ethan Peck, who portrays Spock, said that the character will become more human, which would have consequences for his relationships. Dr. M’Benga, played by Babs Olusanmokun, will be back for a second season.
