The Callisto Protocol’s New Death Animations Haven’t Been “Held Back” From The Main Game

There is no need to panic, nothing is hidden from you.

The Callisto Protocol is an upcoming game from Striking Distance Studios, led by Dead Space creator Glen Schofield. This new title is just as gruesome, and fans can expect to see every single death in their pursuit of an achievement, but it’s also been revealed that more death animations will be added as part of the game’s season pass. This has been misinterpreted as animations already done are being hidden, but that is not the case.

Schofield took to Twitter to assure fans that the death animations that will be added as part of the season pass have yet to be done. “We haven’t even started working on this content yet. It’s new stuff we’ll be working on in the new year,” he wrote.

He tweeted that players had called for even more kills, much to the chagrin of protagonist Jacob Lee. “We’re making it a priority next year,” Schofield wrote, so he may have to wait a bit. But don’t worry, the game as it launches shouldn’t have any deaths locked behind a paywall, although the 13 being worked on for next year will be.

The biggest problem is that a single player game has something called a season pass, because it leads to confusion like this. What happened to the good old DLC? Or expansion passes? Not everything has to be a season.

Hopefully, the employees at Striking Distance Studios won’t push themselves to produce the added DLC, something Glen Schofield admits was a mistake during core development.

The first 13 minutes of The Callisto Protocol recently leaked, so if you want to try it before you buy, you can check out the video embedded in our article. Be warned though, this leak is a recording of someone playing the game on a TV, so it doesn’t show the game in its prime.
