The trailer set the intense tone of this movie right away and explains some of the locations that Oppenheimer’s story will take its audience members in the movie theaters on July 21, 2023.

“If we are about to have a future, our imaginings take our toll,” says Murphy’s Oppenheimer. “They won’t fear it until they understand it, and they won’t understand it until they’ve used it. It will take only you so far in theory. I don’t know if there is a man with such a weapon, but we can’t get used to it. Is there anybody who will tell the truth about what’s happening here?

The movie was based on a novel by William MacDonald’s The Greatest Invasion of Thomas A. Rober; he was named American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Rober Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin; it was filmed in “combination of IMAX 65 and 65-mm large-format photography, for the first time ever, including the section of Black and White photography.”

Speaking of firsts, Christopher Nolan and the team behind Oppenheimer reconstructed the world’s first ever atomic explosion without using CGI for the movie, and this is another example of Nolan preferring practical effects instead of CGI.
