When pre-ordering Bethesda Game Studios’ space-based RPG Starfield Starting off, people who bought the premium editions were promised that they would get the game’s first expansion pack, titled Shattered Space, at no extra cost. Today, we have a time frame for when this extension is scheduled to be released from the person who was responsible for its development.

in a performance on Gamecast is pretty funnyBethesda Game Studios Director Todd Howard stated that the Shattered Space expansion for Starfield Will be available sometime this fall. He offered no further information on what the expansion would be. We suspect we’ll learn more at Microsoft’s Xbox Game Showcase event sometime in early June.

Well before the expansion was released, Howard did state that there was “a big update coming really soon for it Starfield.” He stated that this update will be related to ship building but it looks like we will have to wait for the official announcement from Bethesda.

Similarly, Howard also stated that the guaranteed creation kit for Starfield, which will officially support in-game mods, has been shipped to several mod makers. More information about this feature, which Howard first confirmed in September 2023, will also be revealed soon. The Creator’s Kit will support mods on both the PC and Xbox versions of the game.

Bethesda game studios may still be working on Starfield Expansion content and updates. However, we also know that the studio is currently working on its next big game, The Elder scrolls VI. In March, to celebrate the franchise’s 30th anniversary, the studio released a vague update on that game, stating that “an early build game filled us with the same joy, excitement, and promise of adventure.” It will probably be several years before this game is released.
