Declan de Barra said that there would be a possibility that The Witcher Universe would continue its expansion with new spinoffs after the release of The Witcher: Blood Origin.

Witcher: Blood Origin is coming out on Netflix on December 25 but hasn’t kept up with expectations.

The animator-screenwriter shared these hints in the recent interview with Radio Times in which he discussed Blood Origin and his role in the show, with the co-sponsor Lauren Hissrich, as well as how to communicate with him over the period of time in the show.

In his interview, de Barra praises Andrzej Sapkowski, the author of the original book series, for the extraordinary work he did with this series. In his words, “[Andrzej] Sapkowski is the king of the closed-ended story”. As soon as we read his books, the more tapestry is expanded to the entire world.” He continued, “So, the benefit of doing all these they may be separate pieces, but they paint another side of the world and expand it outward.” That’s the fun part.”

The Witcher is a series that debuted on Netflix in 2019 to widespread acclaim. The show is based on the highly acclaimed book series of Andrzej Sapkowski. It had already inspired highly successful videogame adaptations. The third season, which is already underway, will be released sometime in the summer of 2023. It will feature Tom and William and Louis, as the protagonist Geralt of Rivia for the last time, then with the death of Liam Hemsworth, for the future.

Besides, Netflix announced that its release date was September 21 at a TUDUM fan event in 2021 — it was announced that it would produce another animated film set in The Witcher universe following the success of Nightmare of the Wolf. The streaming behemoth announced plans to produce a family-friendly series from the same universe. Since the announcements made it, the company hasn’t disclosed any further details about the scheduled shows, but fans should ask whether the two of them will happen.

Fortunately a recent report said that the platform has greenlighted a new spinoff series that will focus on a group of Nilfgardian criminals named the Rats that Ciri, one of the most important characters of the series, is still with a certain time. Despite all these rumors, there is no official confirmation. Don’t be fooled by that fact that fans can’t take that with a spoon of salt.

Witcher: Blood Origin is a fantasy prequel miniseries with only four episodes. This series follows a group of elves, about 1200 years before The Witcher, who were divided to fight in the days before the conjunction of the Spheres. It also gives you a picture of the creation of the first Witcher. While the show was very anticipated, it ended up being disappointing and it is currently the worst-rated original show on Netflix.

One of the most influential voices in Blood Origin is Sophia Brown, Laurence OFuarain, Michelle Yeoh, and Mirren Mack respectively. Other members of the cast are Lenny Henry, Jacob Collins Levy, Joey Batrey, Zack Wyatt, Lizzie Annis, Francesca Mills, and Amy Murray.

The Witcher season two and the Witcher: Blood Origin and The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, are now streaming on Netflix.
