Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is expecting a major overhaul of the skill and abilities system. According to PCGamer, developer Fatshark will start working on a new Darktide skill tree in October.

While Warhammer 40,000: Darktide currently allows players to pick a new skill for each of five levels up to level 30 in the new system, players will receive skill points for each level, which can be used to build a skill tree which unlocks passive and active capabilities.

According to Fatshark, each of Darktides four playable character classes will have three main branches. While one of the branches is to represent the class in its current form, the two other branches will offer new skills and abilities that will radically change the class’s game.

In this skill-coaching axis, the main nodes will be separated by some small passive and modified nodes. New abilities include new lightning-like Smite abilities for Psyker and a new giant grenade for Ogryn.

According to the studio, these skills were in development before Darktide, but weren’t ready for release in the full game.

This major update for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide has no release date yet, but it’ll be published next October.
