WhatsApp is expected to add a new in-app dialer to its instant messaging app in a future update, according to WABetaInfo. While analyzing the beta of WhatsApp for Android version 2.24.9.28, the site found that an in-app player is currently under development.

An alleged screenshot of the feature hints at what the dialer might look like when it rolls out to the masses. Currently, there is no word on the timeline for the release of an in-app dialer for WhatsApp. The site said it is not yet ready for beta testers and will be available in a future update.

According to the site, it is currently unclear how WhatsApp plans to implement the feature. But having a dialer inside the messaging app would make it easier for users to have temporary conversations and call unknown people without saving their number, he added.

Furthermore, Dialer can make WhatsApp an alternative to the stock dialer app on your phone when needed. WhatsApp’s end-to-end encrypted video and audio calls take place over the Internet, which can benefit users with low-cost WiFi or data plans, the site noted.

However, WhatsApp has previously released features to improve user convenience in the app. For example, you can chat with unknown phone numbers on WhatsApp without saving them in your contacts.

WhatsApp’s Favorites feature, which is currently in its best testing, allows you to mark important contacts and group chats for faster access. The instant messaging app also added a toggle button to mute unknown callers automatically.

Apart from that, the Meta-owned messaging platform is working on a stream of features, including offline file transfer, events for community group chats, picture-in-picture for videos, and third-party chat support.
