Popular instant messaging platform WhatsApp has been spotted testing some new features for Android and iOS in its latest beta version. For Android users, WhatsApp is launching a new shortcut that will allow users to instantly reply to video messages.

Shortcut to quickly reply to video messages has been spotted in WhatsApp Android 2.24.14.5 beta. It is only available to users enrolled in the WhatsApp beta program. According to a report of WABetaInfoThe new shortcut appears next to the video messages in the users’ chat window.

Last year, WhatsApp pushed the video notes feature, which allows users to share and receive short video messages. It was similar to audio notes, but here, users could share messages as videos directly from the app, without having to record video through the camera app and then share it.

With the new shortcut, users can tap it and comment on the video comments. Tapping the shortcut opens the video annotations, where you can instantly record your response, eliminating the need to manually activate video annotations. The feature is currently in beta, but is expected to hit the stable branch soon.

WhatsApp has a new feature for beta users on iOS as well. as per WABetaInfo, the beta version of WhatsApp iOS 24.13.10.71, brings a new notification feature for media uploads. WhatsApp users on iOS will be notified of media uploads on their lock screen. They can get information about the progress of media uploads.

The message will show when the media upload was paused and what media is currently being uploaded. If the media upload is interrupted or delayed due to a poor connection, the notification informs users with “one upload delayed, open the app to resume sending”.

This can be a good feature to avoid missing file sending, and it can also be useful in situations where sending multiple files is not always successful.
