After adding an event planner for communities, the latest beta update of WhatsApp for Android introduces a new feature in the works that allows users to hide community chats. The latest Hide Community chat feature has been spotted in WhatsApp Android beta update v2.24.10.13.

According to the latest report, the community chat hide feature will allow users better privacy and control in group chats. The screenshot shared by WABetaInfo Shows Meta WhatsApp is testing a new option to mark chats in community groups as traditions. For this, WhatsApp adds a dedicated icon next to the group name.

By looking at this dedicated icon, community group members can easily tell if the group is hidden, allowing them to keep certain chats hidden while coming back to them later. WhatsApp will also show which community the hidden group chat belongs to for easier identification.

The dedicated icon will offer a great way to distinguish between hidden and visible group chats. Moreover, it also adds a layer of privacy and offers a controlled environment, allowing the user to participate in a community conversation without revealing their participation to others in the community because other members will not be able to see which groups are hidden until they have a group invite link.

The benefits of WhatsApp’s new ‘Hide Community Groups’ chat feature is that it will allow for a clutter-free community, especially large communities, where the discussion can drift into relevant sub-groups based on a particular topic. Besides, community managers will be able to keep “sensitive or exclusive groups out of the general view”.

The WhatsApp feature to hide community chat is currently under development and is not available to all users. The feature may be available in a future stable version of the app. Recently, WhatsApp beta for Android got a redesigned status update tray UI.
