Matthew Lawrence, well known for his role on “Boy Meets World,” recently spoke up about the event he claims caused him to be dumped by his talent agency and to lose a position in a Marvel film. Lawrence claims that a “very prominent” Oscar-winning filmmaker propositioned him during a hotel room encounter. If Lawrence agreed with the director’s instructions, he would receive the part, so the director reportedly requested him to undress and take Polaroids of him. Lawrence refused to leave the director’s office and as a result, his agency let him go. On his podcast “Brotherly Love,” Lawrence discussed the double standard that male actors face when they speak out about sexual harassment in the workplace. He drew parallels between his own experience and that of Terry Crews, who came forth with his own tale and received comparable criticism. According to Lawrence, the public is less prepared to hear about male victims of sexual assault. He believes additional information on the subject might be gleaned if more guys come out and talk about their own experiences.
