Wolves Esports picks up slot in the PUBG Mobile Chinese League

Published on

Premier League club Wolves have entered the largest PUBG Mobile competition through their esports division. The team announced today that it’d pick up the slot for an undisputed sum from Team SMGs in the PEL. In the deal, Wolves are also going to compete in the PMCG.

Team SMG went to the PEL.

Team SMG was first to announce that they were in the Peacekeeper elite club earlier in the day after the first signing of the Tourii-Saharan program. The PEL is China’s highest level of mobile esports. Peacekeeper Elite is in China and on the other hand PUBG Mobile.

The organization did not reveal a clear reason why she left. In its statement, Team SMG thanked its fans for their support and said that while this was the end of the road for the org in Peacekeeper Elite, it would still continue in other games.

Wolves Esports has stepped in to take this mantle from SMG. The organization has made huge moves since 2021. Last year, it became a leading mobile esports player in the world. That game is owned by Honor of Kings, an ad-sized king whose user average is reportedly 100 million.

The PEL is a valuable league, too. The PEL Summer 2014, which began during the season, had a prize pool of 4 million dollars.

Besides the PEL, Wolves also get a place in the PMGC.

Team SMG’s is not the most successful team in the PEL. Since the leagues began in 2020, they didn’t start to finish in the higher positions. That all changed, though, in the last season, the Summer League, where they put up a truly underdog performance to claim first place. They finished first with a total of 1,3 million dollars on defending world champions Nova Esports.

In connection with their victory, they secured an invited slot directly into the PMGC Grand Finals, which will take place between Jan. 6 and 8. Now, the team name on display in Jakarta will be Wolves and not Team SMG. The org hasn’t announced it yet but is likely to compete with the same roster.

With the backing of a Premier League club, it remains to be seen how their performances are in the Grand Finals. They’re going to face tough competition, though. Nova Esports are looking to win the world championship with a second straight, while Stalwart is looking like a dangerous competitor after a strong group stage performance.
