It has already begun to speculate on what the new expansion is about since it started on a day. Players have been hoping the next expansion will revolve around pirates because of some new cosmetic items in the game.

The president of Blizzard, Mike Ybarra, cleared the air. Taking over social media platform X, Ybarra decided to make a simple two-word post: no pirates. Ybarra wrote about the latest development in response to the fan’s support on the social media platform and predicted the future of World of Warcrafts.

Cosmetics released during the expansion have been used in a similar way to those that are hints for the future of the game. For example, Shadowlands expansion included the Dragon Pack, that featured dragon-themed cosmetics and much more before dragonflight was even announced. The cosmetics which allow players to speculate on a pirate-themed World of Warcraft expansion are available as part of a recent release of a new Seafarer kit, and the slightly older Waveborne Diplomats Regalia.

World of Warcraft has seen a great increase in player satisfaction since the release of its Dragonflight expansion, and after that introduced a huge number of new features like Dragon Riding, focusing on the lore of the Warcraft that has been mentioned here and there, yet rarely neglected since.

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is on PC. If a new expansion is in the works, the future will likely only get an announcement some time in 2024.

There are no pirates.
