CD Project RED in the repertoire: The latest patch broke the remaster for some players

Published on

The Witcher 3 is on the PC version of their fantasy RPG The Witcher. The first patch was released on December 19th and caused a lot of problems.

This hotfix weighs approximately 2 g and was intended to give the game more stability and fix the issue in the photo mode. However, it was unknown to some users that the patch broke the game. It appears on the Steam forums complaining the game isn’t turning on or starts to crash much more often. Many complained about a lack of more important fixes, though this complaint is not very relevant its just a hotfix to fix some small problem.

We’ll probably have to wait for the third patch, but some of the victims have been helped by a simple scan of the crypt in Steam.

Spoiler alert

You can do this in the local version of the game. Select the appropriate menu item to “Vide integrity of game files” in the Local Files section.

The Witcher 3 Enhanced is available on PC, PS5, Xbox X and S.
