Dummy Apple iPhone 16 units show the apparent design changes we could see in September

Published on

We’re almost four months away from the big launch of the iPhone 16 series. But as you’d expect, this year’s long-awaited phone already has plenty of rumors floating around the internet. There are rumors of an all-new capture button, increased battery and screen sizes, two new titanium color options, new coating technology to reduce lens flare, and more.

Now, thanks to EFTM YouTube channel, we have a first look at alleged mock units of the iPhone 16 series, showing us what we can expect from Cupertino in September. Dummy units are important for companies that make cases and other accessories to ensure that supported cases and accessories are available in time for the phone.

Although it’s quite difficult to discern every single detail of the upcoming iPhone 16 series by looking at the supposed iPhone 16 series mockups shown by YouTube channel EFTM, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus mockups do show the Vertical camera module rumours. This is the first time since the iPhone 12 that the iPhone is rumored to have a vertical camera module.

Furthermore, we also see the apparent action button on the standard mock units of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. Also, according to the alleged mock units of the iPhone 16 series shown by the YouTube channel, the shutter button may be available on all four iPhone 16 models. The video shows the shutter button is located in the same location as the SIM tray on the current iPhone 15.

What it means? Well, Apple may be considering removing physical SIM cards from its iPhones in more regions after making eSIM the standard on iPhones sold in the US. The alleged iPhone 16 Pro Max mockups also show a slight design change, namely a slight increase in height, according to rumors.

Of course, all the details are complicated by seeing some dummy units said to be from the upcoming iPhone 16 series, which is why we suggest you take the information with a grain of salt.
