Fallout 4’s next-gen update is live with new render modes, Creation Club content and more

Published on

The anticipated next generation update for Fallout 4 Finally here, just as promised. Besides improvements for current-gen consoles, Bethesda filled the update with Creation Club content, widescreen support, bug fixes, and more.

The popular RPG is now a native app on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 consoles, and the developer now has two performance modes for players to choose from when jumping. The first is Quality Mode, which runs the game at 30FPS in 4K resolution and Ultra settings without dynamic resolution scaling. If the player is using a 120Hz monitor, quality mode will be set to 40FPS instead.

Performance mode, meanwhile, will aim for 60FPS at 4K resolution, using standard graphics settings alongside dynamic resolution to reach that frame rate. Interesting, if Fallout 4 Detects that a 1440p monitor is connected to the console, it will automatically run at that resolution and aim for 60FPS on Ultra settings instead, regardless of which mode is selected.

PC gamers will find official support for widescreen and ultrawide displays now. For fans of handheld gaming, Fallout 4 Steam Deck Verification has finally arrived with this update as well. The title is also now available on the Epic Games Store for the first time.
