Star of films like “Fantastic Beasts” and “We Need to Talk About Kevin,” Ezra Miller has recently been in the news for all the wrong reasons. The actor has been arrested and charged with many crimes, including disorderly conduct, harassment, and felony burglary, among others, since early 2022. Miller has been accused of having an abusive relationship with activist Tokata Iron Eyes that began while she was young, in addition to the legal issues they have already encountered. In June 2022, Iron Eyes’ parents filed documentation alleging that Miller had exerted control over their son through physical and psychological abuse, as well as through the use of narcotics and delusions. Iron Eyes was able to get a restraining order against Miller from the Standing Rock Sioux tribal court. These legal problems are the result of a pattern of public displays of instability. Miller was arrested for disorderly conduct and harassment in Hawaii in March 2022 after becoming angry at a karaoke club. Miller was arrested in April after an incident at a private property when he reportedly threw a chair at a woman’s head. An extra who worked with Miller on the set of the 2019 miniseries “The Stand” said that Miller was “disgusting and horribly unprofessional” during production. The extra claimed that Miller created a hostile work environment by shouting at the director and spitting on set. Miller has just been charged with felony burglary in Vermont for allegedly stealing wine from a home while the owners were away. To witness someone with such obvious gifts and promise bogged down by legal issues and charges of abusive conduct is distressing. Miller has to own up to their mistakes, get treatment if they need it, and strive toward making apologies and doing better.
