Nintendo announced a live-action Legend of Zeldak movie yesterday as well: Wes Ball was the director. Whether this tweet from 2010, is something that Ball seems to have wanted for the past time.

“I don’t even imagine that I can try to direct it… next big film in Avatar could be. “LEGEND GROUP OF ZELDA,” wrote Ball a few years ago on the Twitter app in 2010.

As I never could hope to let this story go, a great film in my heart will be…. THE LEGEND OF ZELDA.

At the time, everyone marveled at James Cameron’s vision of Pandora. This was one such a movie that has reached record levels in any human history and is now an absolute masterpiece! No doubt Ball was thinking about what it would be like to wear 3D glasses and visit a CGI-rendered Gorons in the live movie Hyrule. But the three-dimensional glasses haven’t arrived yet.

Ball has seen success with the films Maze Runner, which were released in 2014 and 2015 then followed by 2013. He is the director of Kingdom’s Planet of Ape and will be released in 2024. These projects were apparently enough to rank him for one of the most coveted games in gaming history.

The live-action Legend of Zelda movie, announced on Tuesday has already come under intense speculation among fans – many people don’t know about them in any way whatsoever. Among the unanswered questions are whether they’ll be fonding on an ancient story like Ocarina of Time, and who will join Shilter and Zeldan.

We may wait a lot. As Ball was attached to the Planet of the Apes and his strike continuing with a focus on reality, it’ll still be early in Nintendo cinema. In some ways, however the Wes Ball of 2010, he could probably see his future self.
