KB5037941: Microsoft quietly releases Windows 11 build 26100.2 for Windows 11 PCs 24H2

Published on

The 2024 update for Windows 11, version 24H2, is expected to be unveiled later this year. According to reports, the RTM (Roll to Production) is going to happen this month itself, and the timing seems to be in line with another recent development where Microsoft released a Windows Insider build for HLK (Hardware Lab Kit) which actually helps in testing and verifying hardware compatibility.

Recent developments have led to speculation that the latest Canary channel and Dev Insider build 26100.1 belongs to the RTM branch. However, the build has quite a few issues, even outside of those recognized by Microsoft.

The tech giant has now released a new build 26100.2 under KB5037941, which appears to be an OEM build. Since this is for the OEM industry, Microsoft has not published a separate changelog for it.

OEMs like these are supposed to be pre-installed on OEM PCs, such as vendors like Dell, HP, Asus, Lenovo, among others. This build is based on the previous build, 26100.1, hence the bugs and issues may persist with this as well.

This build is different from a service pipeline build where Microsoft tests the Insider service channels before pushing out some major updates. Also, if you don’t have build 26100.1 installed, you’re unlikely to get it.

If you want to try it, it’s available in the UUP dump Website. But again, it’s not really something you need or that we recommend.

Microsoft and AMD recently announced new Windows 11 AI PCs for enterprises and they will be powered by Ryzen 8000 PRO processors and Pluton security chips. AMD says these will arrive in the second quarter and Computex 2024 in early June is where we expect to find these.
