A new report shared some concerning information about the upcoming multiplayer shooter of Bungie. In a new report last week, Bungie indicated its recent delay of the marathon for 2025. That delay came along with several layoffs in the studio that raised a lot of red flag regarding fans. In the wake of these laidoffs, a Bungie insider shared what they heard about Marathon and it isn’t too encouraging.

According to Aztecross, Bungie hosted an event in 2023 where various streamers could play Marathon. Many of those streamers have the most views over The Tarkov route – which is an extraction shooter similar to that of Bungie, hoping for. After letting the streamers play Marathon, Bungie members asked them whether they would like to play this game with their release tomorrow. In response, none of the content creators raised their hands to express interest. This indicates that it wasn’t all that good for running marathon but early response was far from an entirely positive one before this day a few days later

Even though this might seem troublesome, there are obviously some caveats to that situation. The version of Marathon played by the audience was still in its first phase and very rough around edges. Another fact is that Bungie stressed to those who experienced the marathon: this game wasn’t a long time ago. The version of the title that will eventually see light as day shall certainly be very different from what it used for internal testing.

Currently, there are still very few things related to Marathon. Since now, Bungie has only shown an initial teaser trailer with many dimensional parts as well. Even though Bungie is now owned by Sony, Marathon plans to come into all the current-generation platforms that include PlayStation 5, Xbox X/S and PC. Now isn’t known whether new details will emerge before the end of year, but there seems to be more likely next time than then till 2024.
